About
Stacey Gendron has written a dark and achingly funny memoir. In it she chronicles her uncanny luck / destiny / crisis-oriented internal navigation system, all of which have led her toward having an “insurmountable caseload of f*ckery”. Stacey brings the reader along on her journey, whether running the mountains of New England examining her thirty year relationship with her suicidal husband; getting pregnant at fifteen; breaking all Ten Commandments; choosing to be “first world homeless" and pitching a tent in her Mother's yard with her two Belgian Malinois; or laying on the floor in a puddle of her own tears, begging God to save her from herself- again.
Stacey gives us a very honest and very raw look into sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy, losing two children, visiting her husband in a psyche ward, “toxic Christianity”, suicidal ideation, reconstructing a million dollar company from ruins, and morning sex (mourning sex?), all the while keeping us laughing out loud. It’s all too much, but ... that seems to be the point.
